Introduction and History

A charming, historic property in Smyrna, Tennessee is now for sale. With a history dating back to the Civil War, the property embodies Southern hospitality and offers a piece of Tennessee’s well-known past.

In the 1800s, the property was the birthplace of Sam Davis, a Civil War soldier. The land once held a historic cabin in the back of the property (which now resides at The Historic Sam Davis Home and Museum). But while the cabin is gone, there is still a marker of history on the property, as it is also the final resting place of Judy Garland’s great, great grandfather.

The lovely home that now sits at 526 Almaville Road was built in 1977. The interior offers 1,812 square feet with four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and comfortable living spaces. The surrounding property totals almost a full acre. The large, fenced-in backyard provides an in-ground pool and offers a private park-like entertainment space.

The location of this home provides an opportunity for commercial zoning (C2/C3). The property and home would make a beautiful boutique, tea room, event space, or bed and breakfast. But whether 526 Almaville Road remains a residential property or becomes a commercial entity, it is ready and waiting to start a new chapter in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Double French doors offer a view into the beautiful backyard and pull natural light into the room. This dining room provides a prime space for hosting tea parties, dinner gatherings, special occasions, or simple family meals.

The blue and white theme of the formal dining room spills over into an enchanting kitchen. The room features abundant cabinet and countertop space with an island that offers more room for food preparations. Residents can also enjoy a snack or a quick cup of coffee using the bar top seating of the island. This room furnishes a dishwasher, refrigerator, and electric stove with an oven. The residents of this home will enjoy preparing holiday meals, daily lunches, or cupcakes straight out of the oven within their clean and fresh kitchen space.

Here’s What The Current Owners Have To Say:

Q: What do you love about your property?

A: The location is very convenient—right off the interstate. The Publix shopping center is right across the street, yet we have a huge, private backyard like a park. From the backyard, you would never know all that was out front. It has the best of both worlds.

Q: What drew you to your property originally?

A: We had three girls who were growing up with only one bathroom, and two of the girls shared a bedroom. We needed another bathroom and four bedrooms for each of them to have their own space. We also wanted a fireplace, a huge yard, and an in-ground pool. We entertained a lot, so this was the perfect place.

Q. Where do you love to shop?

A: I love to shop at BJ's, Aldi, and the Publix across the street.

Q: What can you tell me about your neighborhood?

A: There is a good balance in my neighborhood, with both commercial and residential properties nearby. There are two churches within walking distance, and there is a school a little over a mile away. The interstate is just down the street. We also have good neighbors on both sides of our house.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to add about the schools or the area where you live?

A: There are plenty of schools in and around Smyrna, and they have just built two new ones. Smyrna also has quite a few parks. There is an airport, golf course, splash pad, two bowling alleys, a skating center, a movie theater, a farmers market, a hospital, lots of restaurants, and shopping centers.

Q. What drew you to the town?

A: The location is perfect. Smyrna is just southeast of Nashville on I-24 and a few miles from Murfreesboro. It takes one and a half hours to get to Chattanooga, Kentucky, or the Space Center in Huntsville, AL.

It has all the conveniences of a big city but still has that small-town charm. People are friendly, and there are a lot of sports and family activities.
