When it comes to the best restaurant choices, Donelson and Hermitage may not be the first locations that come to mind. These two communities rest on the outskirts of the busy downtown Nashville area. Unfortunately, that sometimes means places like East Nashville or The Gulch get the majority of the limelight. But to the locals, both Donelson and Hermitage have earned their place on the map. So for anyone seeking out delicious restaurant options, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite restaurants within these two communities of Nashville, TN:

Best Breakfast Restaurant (Hermitage)

For those who have been following our property storyboards, Nadeen's Hermitage Haven might sound familiar. We have recommended it before, and we will recommend it again! In our opinion, Nadeen’s has more than earned the title of the best breakfast location in Hermitage. This delicious stop features chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, and a menu item entitled: The Cure. For anyone indulging in this tasty breakfast spot, we have two words of advice: come hungry. (Bonus Tip: Nadeen’s Hermitage Haven is also open throughout the day, and it’s definitely worth its salt in the lunch and dinner category too.)

Best Hot Chicken (Donelson)

Over the last few years, Nashville has earned a reputation for hot chicken. There are quite a few restaurants in the greater Nashville area that offer their version of that menu item. But we can attest to Party Fowl’s take on such a popular dish. In fact, we’ve even celebrated a team occasion at this tasty venue. While Party Fowl has several locations across Tennessee, we can recommend the Donelson location! 

Best Mexican Food (Hermitage)

Some days, tacos are non-negotiable. When it comes to Mexican food, we can place our seal of approval on Las Palmas in Hermitage. Las Palmas offers all of those favorite Mexican-style menu items, like burritos, fajitas, nachos, etc., packed with mouthwatering flavors. 

Best Italian (Hermitage)

Gondola House Pizzeria has delicious pizza, but the menu doesn’t stop there! Lasagna, chicken parmesan, meatballs and marinara—it’s all available at this fantastic venue. Gondola House Pizzeria can also take a team meeting or private event up a notch with their catering options.

Best Steak (Hermitage)

Hermitage Steak House wins our vote for the best steak in Hermitage! They serve filets, ribeyes, and New York Strips along with a few non-steak dishes. Hermitage Steak House also has the best salad in town and an incredible bananas foster dish for dessert! 

Best Vegetarian (Donelson)

Vegan and gluten-free restaurants are hard to find. But Donelson has a great option! Sunflower Bakehouse is both a vegan restaurant and gluten-free bakery. They serve sandwiches, vegan burgers, salads, and incredible sweet treats!

Best Upscale Restaurant (Donelson)

Special occasions call for fancy dinner venues. In our opinion, Darfons Restaurant & Lounge in Donelson wins the title: “Best Upscale Restaurant.” This high-end venue even has a dress code with classy menu options to match. The menu features fine dishes such as filet mignon, seared scallops, BBQ salmon, and more. Special date nights or important business dinners can benefit from the luxurious setting of Darfons Restaurant and Lounge.
